17 Weeks

17 Weeks

Weight Gain: Up 8 pounds. I act like I'm baffled by this weight gain... and then realize I just ate a piece of chocolate cake and a diet Dr. Pepper for breakfast. Whoops! :/ And...TMI, but pregnancy sucks for the digestive system!

Stretch Marks: Nope

Movement: Yup, still feeling the little flutters.

Cravings: I don't know if I'm really having cravings or just giving into eating all the things I've given up for the last two years for the most part. Where did all my self restraint go?!

Sleep: I consistently wake up at 3am and toss and turn for about an hour. It continues. Boo!

Best Moment this Week: Feeling like I actually look pregnant and not just chubby in the middle.

Gender: Not the slightest clue.

Labor signs: Nope

Maternity Clothes: No, not yet. But thinking pretty soon. I've been fighting it, but I'm starting to think maternity pants would be a lot more comfy.

What I miss: Not feeling so big. The nice weather is finally coming and I've been trying to wear some of my summer clothes. Not happening, since I was at my lowest weight in my adult life last summer :(

What I'm looking forward to: My first appointment back with the doctor I had with Hunter.

16 Weeks

Weight Gain: Still up 7 pounds, thank goodness for no new weight gain!

Stretch Marks: Nope

Movement: Yup, still feeling the little flutters.

Cravings: Berry pies. I might have eaten a whole blackberry pie over the course of 4 days this week. Stop judging :) And no, I had no help with it, I did it all by myself!

Sleep: I consistently wake up at 3am and toss and turn for about an hour. Ugh.

Best Moment this Week: For some reason 16 weeks sounds way further along to me! Yay!

Gender: No clue. Hoping for another boy, but obviously will be happy with either.

Labor signs: Nope

Maternity Clothes: No, not yet.

What I miss: Energy.

What I'm looking forward to: Finding out what the gender is sometime in the next month!

Switching Doctors

So, I did it, I switched OB/GYN's. I was seeing a doctor out by my parent's house so that they could watch Hunter during the appointments. With us moving to Lacey, which is in the complete opposite direction, I would've needed to change doctors anyways. But, I just never felt fully comfortable with Dr. A (I'll refer to her as that for now on). I think she was nice enough, but not personable at all. She never cracked a smile or made me feel at ease. I guess maybe I should've changed right away, but I figured it was not that big of a deal.

Two appointments ago, I asked her some questions and I just didn't feel good about the response. I'll have to give you some background on my pregnancy with Hunter so that you understand:

I was originally due with Hunter on October 17, 2009. I knew without a doubt when my last period was, etc. At the 20 week ultrasound, he was measuring ten days big. The doctor (Dr. B) changed my due date to October 7th. By the middle of September, he was pretty convinced that Hunter was going to be a big boy. He let things run their course until the week of my due date and said in his best judgement, it was time for Hunter to come out, so that I wouldn't have a high risk of having a c-section due to his size. So, he induced on October 8th, 9 days prior to his original due date.

I had an awesome birth experience. I know people say pitocin is the devil, but it worked fine with me. They induced at 6am, broke my water at noon, epidural at 2:30pm, and Hunter was born at 6:30pm after 15 minutes of pushing. He weighed 9lbs 5oz.

I think Dr. B made a very good decision to induce when he did. He didn't do it prematurely, he waited until he felt like it was necessary. I am so grateful for his judgement.

Okay, so back to my questions for Dr. A... I expressed concerns that the very early ultrasounds showed that this baby was already measuring 5 days big. She said she would not change a due date unless it was off by over 2 weeks. I then explained the situation with Hunter and asked what her thoughts on induction were. She stated that she would not induce, regardless of size, until 2 weeks after the due date.

Ugh, how do I explain my feelings about this? I am not a fan of inducing early for no good reason. But, her answer just seemed so black and white and without consideration for situation and history. It didn't leave room for her using her judgement. I respect that she's a doctor and that she knows how she likes to do things, but I just didn't feel like it was a good fit for us. I just didn't get a good feeling overall.

So, I will be going back to Dr. B in 3 weeks! I am really excited and feel really good about this decision. I trust him and feel completely comfortable with him, so it's best for us. My first appointment with him is at 18.5 weeks and we will make an appointment for the big ultrasound appointment that day!

What do you think, girl or boy?!

Weight Gain: Up 4 pounds so far. I don't know how I feel about how rapidly this is increasing! I didn't gain any weight with Hunter until 17 weeks!

Stretch Marks: No new ones

Movement: Nope, but I am constantly finding myself trying to feel movement when I lay down at night. :)

Cravings: Pasta, grapefruit, and anything spicy.

Sleep: Ugh, this has been hit or miss in the last week. A few nights I've tossed and turned for hours at night. Also, it's getting uncomfortable to sleep on my side, I get pains in my hip.

Best Moment this Week: No sickness this week and A LOT more energy. Today I made enchiladas from scratch and made three baby blankets!

11 Weeks

Okay, I'm ready to start with the weekly bump pictures and updates! My new weeks start on Tuesdays, so hopefully I can get in the routine of doing baby updates on that day.

11 Weeks

Weight Gain: Up 2 pounds so far. I've been really sick and I've still managed to gain weight... so you can just imagaine the quality of food that I've been stuffing my face with. Thank goodness I am starting this pregnancy exactly 30lbs lighter than I did with Hunter.

Stretch Marks: Just my ones from Hunter. Please Lord, do not give me any new ones!

Movement: Lol, not besides gas. ;/

Cravings: Anything spicy, lime popcicles, and fruit.

Sleep: SO SO SO good! Seriously, I haven't slept harder since before Hunter was born. Poor Jesse takes out the pup around 4am every morning and I am dead to the world.

Best Moment this Week: Last Thursday I actually had a good day, well until the evening. I had a burst of energy and spent the whole morning/afternoon making homemade cupcakes and deep cleaning the kitchen. Felt so good to be productive.

Gender: Not a clue. I go back and forth between desperately wanting another boy and thinking it would be so fun to have a little girl. Eh, so I'm pretty indifferent.

Labor signs: Nope

What I miss: Not throwing up almost everyday and being so extremly tired 99% of the time

What I'm looking forward to: Excited to hear the heart beat at my doctor appointment on Thursday! We saw the heartbeat in an early ultrasound, but I'm super excited to hear it! I hope I don't forget to record it.

Weekly wisdom: Morning sickness is a pretty sure sign that your baby is doing awesome.

Milestones: Ehhh, I'm at a loss for this one.

Baby bumps from week 8, 10 and 11. I think it may have shrunk a little this week.

Thank You!!!

I just wanted to say thank you for all the congrats and well wishes about being pregnant I have received! I really feel like this blog, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram has connected me with some amazing ladies and has grown into such a great community to connect with other moms in! So... THANK YOU!

Speaking of that great community, I am so super excited to be going to my first blogger's night out with about a dozen or so other local bloggers. It's tonight and I can't wait to meet so many of the faces that I've come to know through social networking! I'll be sure to share some pics and the details afterwards! :)

I know I still have a bit MIA in blogland. I promise you, I have a good reason. This pregnancy has made me so very sick. I feel extremely tired 90% of the time, nausous most of the day, and throwing up everyday as well. BUT... the good news about that is that means my body is doing what it needs to, to grow a healthy baby! Totally worth it, but in the meantime I have been pretty worthless. I've been neglecting housework, seeing friends and family, blogging, and lots more. What I have gotten really good at is playing Monopoly on the iPhone app. Hee-hee.

Big News!

I just can't hold it in any longer...we are going to be adding another addition to our family in September! We are beyond excited and can't wait to have a family of four... or six if you count the dogs. ;)

We got to see the heartbeat last week during an early ultrasound. Nothing like seeing that you are growing a little human! :)

Here is my first baby bump pic @ 8w4d. Beware, there will be weekly updates! :)
